Masonry mortars, plasters and plasters: Lime has been used as the main ingredient in masonry mortars for centuries, and this important use can be seen in both modern and ancient applications.

Mortars made with lime and cement have high workability with compressive strength and low water permeability. Lime is a main component in internal and external plastering and plastering, which increases the strength, durability and workability of these coatings. All these lime applications are supported by ASTM applications and related standards.

Slaked lime for building applications: Hydrated or S-type slaked lime is a high-purity, white, and high-quality product. Mortar is a purely American product with more difficult conditions for construction work. Type Hydrated Lime (Aerated SA), except that it contains an air agent that creates small voids in the mixed mortar, either type will provide a good quality mortar, and both are subject to ASTM C207.

Performance in modern masonry applications: research compares the performance of lime-cement mortars with the performance of masonry cement mortars (which use limestone and other additives instead of slaked lime), cement-lime mortars have higher bonding and adhesion and shear strength. It also shows less water leakage.
